s video on Surround system dvd player?
I just bought a DVD player surround system ,I purchased the cable kit that comes with rca cables that have red,blue and green, and it also has the S video cable. my question is do i use both or either one rca or s video and which will give me a better pic . my tv is an hdtv flat screen. thanks
Usually, red/blue/green are used to carry a high definition video signal (called component cables). You would need to connect all three of these rca cables to your tv for hd video. If you connect just the s-video cable, you will get a lower quality (480i) picture. It should be noted that even with the component (rca) cables connected the hd picture will be an up-converted picture. While it will look better then usual DVD playback, it will not look near as good as true hd.
You should only need to connect just the rca's or just the s-video. Not both.
