What happens if I mount my new car stereo at an angle greater than 35 degrees?
I am just about to install a new alpine stereo/cd player in my car, a renault clio, which has a sloping radio compartment (at an angle of about 45 degrees). But in the instruction manual it states 'The main unit must be mounted within 35 degrees of the horizontal plane, back to front'. Will there be a problem if I go ahead and install it anyway? If so, what? Is there anything I can do so that I can still install it?
I believe that Alpine puts the 35 degree max on there to ensure that a customer doesn't complain about skipping problems. As long as you have the deck mounted securley front and back, you will have no ill effects. Back in 1999, I had a cheap Kenwood deck mounted vertically in a center console of a Blazer. I ran the deck like that for about a year and a half. Then I sold the cd player to a freind of mine who is still using it to this day with no problems. I did have some abnormal skipping problems, but not too annoying.
