is the price right on this 02 Audi TT 225bhp Quattro 130k mi - 9.5k?
I'm planning on buying a 2002 Audi TT 225bhp Quattro Coupe ($9,500)
The car is in excellent condition, it looks new on the exterior and interior, the engine sounds clean too.
Here are some of the specs about the car:
- 225 HP, 1.8 Turbo Engine w/ a 6 speed Manual Transmission AWD
- 135,000 miles =[
- 18" Enkei Premium Wheels and new tires
- Jensen DVD/Touch Screen/CD player w/ ipod aux plugin and a factory six disc changer
- New K&N Cold Air Intake
- New NGK Laser Premium Spark Plugs
- Keyless Entry and Alarm/Security System
I've also done a Carfax report and it's clean and all the maintenance was done to date.
The Kelley Blue Book (for private private) is at $8,945, Is the price the seller is asking right?
Sorry my question may have not been too clear. In your opinion would this be a good buy? Should I buy it?
I own some auto repair shops. I once had an 01 TT roadster 225. I can tell you 130K is reaching the useful life of the 1.8T used in VWs and Audis. At 90K, mine became too much of a hassle to drive. So I sold it.
If the turbo hasn't been replaced, it will need to be soon. That's easily a $2,000 job. If the water pump, timing belt and tensioner haven't been replaced in the last 60K, it will need to be done. They used plastic impellers in those pumps and the impellers will start to dissentigrate around 60K. Minimum $700 job ($1200 is typical). The timing belt tensioners are also a common problem. Some shops don't replace the tensioner when the timing belt is done, but on these engines, the hydraulic tensioners are prone failure, causing the belt to jump. Once that happens, you're talking complete engine replacement.
Besides, the TT's performance is way inferior compared to other vehicles in its class.
